First Safari Jazz concert held Kampala

MTN, the largest telecoms company in Uganda this week organised the first jazz concert in the country dubbed Safari Jazz 2000, attracting some of the biggest acts in the genre.

The unique event on October 8 began in the capital’s Serena Hotel, featuring Tshaka Mayanja, Eric Marienthal, Chuck Loeb, Pragmo cooper and Oscar Seaton.

“For Uganda to host a Jazz concert, it’s a big thing,” said one of the organisers, explaining that Ugandans are more used to hip-hop music, but slowly, they have started to develop a taste for jazz.

MTN Uganda were the main sponsors for the event.
