Akon to meet baby-mama at MAMAs

Senegalese-born US singing sensation Akon will meet with Susan Owori, the Ugandan mother of his baby during the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) in Nairobi, sources said.

The six-time Grammy nominated singer/producer is scheduled to arrive in Nairobi on Friday and proceed to the pre-MAMAs party. Alongside Wyclef Jean, he is expected to perform some of his famous songs.

Susan Owori is the younger sister of Kampala socialite, fashion designer and magazine publisher, Sylvia Awori, who is slowly cutting her niche in Nairobi.

“According to plans, Akon and Susan will meet here, but everybody is quiet about it,” a source said.

Akon and Susan reportedly conceived the baby after they met in Kampala, where the singer performed a concert on May 9, 2008. Susan has repeatedly told friend in Uganda that they are an item.

Sources said Susan has even traveled to the United States to meet the father of her son.

“It is common knowledge that the pair have been together to several places,” said the source.

Akon told a US magazine Blender that he was married and that he had five children, four boys and one girl, with three different women.

Blender magazine folded in March this year owing to dwindling adverts.
Several US gossip sites have carried his picture with the children.
