Fans of the hugely popular Lemony Snicket stories can look forward to a new series in 2012, according to publishing industry website Bookseller on August 25.

The series, which does not yet have a name, will contain four titles, the first of which will be published in hardback in 2012.

The books have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide and were the basis for a popular movie starring comedian Jim Carrey.

The popular series, titled A Series of Unfortunate Events, has been noted for its grimness for a children’s book.

Lemony Snicket is a pseudonym used by author Daniel Handler. According to Bookseller, “When asked to comment, Lemony Snicket said: ‘I can neither confirm nor deny that I have begun research into a new case, and I can neither confirm nor deny that the results are as dreadful and unnerving as A Series Of Unfortunate Events. By the way, who is this?'”
