Popular Gospel singer Willy Paul has recently released a track dubbed “I Do.” In a collaboration with the elegant Jamaican crooner Alaine, the two released the track on the 28th of February after fuelling rumors of some impending nuptials online. Alaine Laughton, 38-year-old reggae star is known for tracks like “No Ordinary Love” and “Rise In Love” and beloved for her vocal range and sweet disposition. Alaine is not new to the Kenyan audience, previously collaborating with Wyre on the track “Nakupenda Pia.” Sharing her time in Kenya with fans on her Instagram account, a picture with Willy Paul only served to build anticipation for the new track.
The song is easy and light with a catchy tune that will have many Kenyan couples dancing down the aisle. Quoting Proverbs 18:22 ” He who finds a wife, finds a good thing,” Willy Posse sets the tone for the track and brings his classic vocals that merge also most perfectly with Alaine’s sweet harmonies to produce the perfect soundtrack for Kenya’s newlyweds.
Although this song sounds great, the visuals fail to tug at one’s heartstrings. With loads of brand placement, it seems that Willy Paul has acknowledged that one cannot make a living from music alone, sacrificing storytelling for brand placement. Though the track is great, the presence of many brands in the video lowers the allure of the video. On the bright side, it seems Willy Paul has saved his reputation after releasing a disappointing track “Tiga Wana” with Size 8.
