Madonna

Madonna is regarded as one of the most successful musicians of all time. She has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the best-selling female artist of all time by the Guinness World records.Time Magazine ranks her among the “25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century” for being an influential figure in mainstream contemporary music. In 2008, Billboard ranked her at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart

Throughout her three decade career, she has managed to stay relevant with catchy hits and a public image that people can’t get enough of. From kissing Britney Spears at the VMAs, to her much publicized affair with former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman, Madonna has always been controversial.  Her kiss with Britney at the 2003 VMA awards triggered a tabloid frenzy. Back in the 90s, when explicit content was taboo, Madonna released her book called Sex. The book consisted of sexually provocative and explicit imagery of her. The book caused strong negative reaction from the media and the general public, but sold 1.5 million copies at $50 each in a matter of days. She also went to star in a number of explicit films despite the frequent backlash from critics.
