Selah Marley, daughter of Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley is set to have the world at her feet.
With a difficult childhood, Selah shared that her fame is a consequence of her birthright and not because she sought it out. The 18-year-old now appears on magazines and runways, however, it seems her first love is music. Much like the great lineage she comes from, Selah is now dipping her toes in the music industry and finding great success. With her debut single “Breathe” gaining more attention, it seems that she could soon feature on the billboard.
Sharing on Instagram her excitement for the single “Breathe” it seems that her music is just right for the sonic trends dominating the airwaves. With influences from “Love Galore” star SZA, and of course Lauryn Hill her mother and grandfather Bob Marley, Selah’s music is different and experimental.
Much like her cousin Skip Marley, Selah is keen to make her own way in the music industry and develop her independent sound away from the shadow of her famous relatives. Talking to I-D online magazine, she explained ” if I were to describe my music, I would probably say futuristic R&B. Or at least that’s what I strive for! Soothing, ambient tones with dope rhythms!” As Selah makes her debut to the stage, her mother multiple Grammy winner Lauryn Hill made a comeback with an epic performance alongside rap legend Nas and reggae megastar Chronnix in early September. It seems that this family is ready to make huge waves in the music industry.
