KU’s Prof Mugenda named among the top entrepreneurs by Ernest & Young

Professor Olive Mugenda, Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award under Ernest & Young’s globally recognized Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

The EOYA, which has a 28 year global history, is the world’s most prestigious award for entrepreneurs that celebrate entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in their respective fields of work.

Prof. Mugenda has been recognized for her work in transforming Kenyatta University into a vibrant and progressive institution of higher learning. Prof. Mugenda has distinguished herself as an innovative and entrepreneurial leader by adopting strategies of fundraising to supplement funding that the government is able to provide. Kenyatta University is the first public university that is constructing hostels for students using the Public Private Partnership embraced and recommended by the government.

Dr. Jennifer Riria, Chair and founder of Kenya Women Finance Holding ltd was named the winner of the master category of the Eastern Africa Chapter of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Dr. Riria will represent the region alongside other regional master category winners from 140 cities in over 50 countries around the world in Monte Carlo, in June this year (EOYA). Jyoti Murkhejee, CEO Software Technologies Ltd was named the winner in the Emerging category
