KU and MMU play at inaugural Masaku Rugby sevens

Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Multi Media University’s Hawks rugby teams made an appearance at the first ever sevens rugby event in Machakos county. The Uni rugby sides, which also included Daystar Uni, made a spirited fight, but it was Harlequin RFC that took home the title.

The event witnessed the debut of the Machakos rugby team which has been christened Kilunda RFC by the locals.

Rugby fans came out in huge numbers to cheer their teams on, and the teams did not disappoint.  Each team put on a steady performance but it was down to Mwamba RFC and the Harlequins at the finals.

Congratulations to Kenya Harlequins who managed to clinch the main cup and to the other teams that constantly endeared to make their fans proud!

Summarily, it was a well organized event with a great turn out, and rugby fans sure know how to have a good time!

That said – we hope there is a round two of this event.
