The University of Nairobi Chinese Choir performed at the 3rd Confucius Institute International Music Summer Camp and 1st Confucius Institute Art Festival on the 25th June. Accompanied by university Vice- Chancellor Prof Mbithi, the group sang their heart out in the presence of a lively audience including Guo Hong, the director of Confucius Institute.
The Chinese Choir of the Confucius Institute at UoN was established in 2009. The event held in China last week, was well attended by musical groups from different corners of the globe. The Kenyan choir was well received and accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mbithi who was on official duty signing the agreement of Confucius Institute Building.
According to the University of Nairobi site, the choir led the opening concert with “Jambo” in both Chinese and Kiswahili and Chinese local song “Half a moon rising”. UoN Vice Chancellor encouraged the students to make full use of the chance the Confucius Institute offered to learn more and broaden their worldview.
