CfC Stanbic partners with Strathmore in entrepreneurship and financial training

Third and fourth year students at Strathmore University were treated to a week-long forum by CfC Stanbic Bank as staff from the bank imparted practical skills on entrepreneurship and finance as part of their summer school.

Dubbed the Engage Forums, the sessions took place from 1st August to 5th August and are designed to give students practical tips on decision making, starting and driving the growth of a business, among other topics.

Speaking at the opening session of the Engage Forums, Abraham Ongenge, Chief Financial Officer, CfC Stanbic Bank said, “We are privileged to work with Strathmore Business School to build capacity and help create an enabling environment that will help better prepare young people to participate in the new knowledge economy.”

CfC Stanbic Bank’s initiative with Strathmore Business School comes at a time when the country is looking to diversify from traditional sources of income and encourage the growth of entrepreneurship as a key to economic growth.

The CfC Stanbic staff who spoke to the students included Elly Odhong, Head of Integrated Channels, Jibran Quireshi, Regional Economist, Wegoki Mugeni, Regional Head of Capital Markets and Veselina Kracheva from Oxford Business Group, among others.

Students also learnt about the role of technology to provide clients with lasting and meaningful experiences in diverse sectors.

“CfC Stanbic Bank’s participation in the Engage Forums is part of an ongoing commitment to broadly work with stakeholders to drive real progress for individuals and businesses in the country,” added Abraham.

“We are ready to work a diverse group of partners, small businesses, academic institutions, and other stakeholders so as to achieve our goal of providing innovative financial solutions for individual and corporate entities,” he concluded.
