Baseball, a traditionally American sport, is slowly but steadily  gaining popularity in spreading across Kenya with several Universities participating in a local league.

This past weekend Kenyatta University hosted the KUSA tournament that featured Baseball  for the first time in Kenya. The hosts (KU), Africa Nazarene University (ANU), Multi Media University (MMU), and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) were all represented in the Baseball category.

The ANU Crusaders, who are the current National Softball Champions, emerged winners after they went unbeaten for the entire tournament. They defeated MMU by 4 runs to 1 in the first game and dismissed tournament favorites KU 5 runs to 4. On Sunday, the Crusaders won against their Arch Rivals, JKUAT by 10 runs to 9.

On the other side of the Pitch was the Softball competition for ladies. Crusaders’ Ladies team thrashed KU by 15 Runs to nil and on their second game won by 8 runs to nil to emerge winners with the most number of points and runs.
