For anyone fond of the movie theater, the cold air conditioning and huge buckets of popcorn; there’s every reason to get excited for 2017. Due to hit the big screen as some of the most spectacular movies. With a wide variety including sequels, prequels, and completely new plotlines, 2017 might prove to be a buffet of action, drama and lots of sci-fi that will have moviegoers feasting on the best of the best.

1.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Due onscreen worldwide in January, this sci-fi movie sets the foundation for all Star Wars films previously released. Staged as a remake of the original, it was shot using simple filmmaking techniques and even original wardrobe from the sci-fi hit from the Star Wars series. The plot sees Jyn Erso lead a group of unlikely heroes to steal the plans to the Death Star in a story of rebellion and hope.


2.Fast and Furious 8

Serving up hot rides and lots of action, Fast and Furious is back. Big stars including Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, and Jason Statham make up an eclectic cast on this high octane movie. The eighth installment of the series brings back Tyrese Gibson and rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges exposing the complicated relationships that govern the crew. This story of betrayal and family is the ultimate action movie.



For all the adults who still believe in superheroes, Wonderwoman is the perfect excuse to get lost in an alternative universe where women rule and save the world all in a day’s work. Courtesy of DC Comics, Wonderwoman comes to life onscreen in 2017. Played by Gal Gadot from Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The show is expected in theaters in June 2017. This is one film every feminist should see.


4. Justice League

All superheroes unite to make an epic film due on screens November 2017. The group of 6 including Superman played by Henry Cavill, Batman played by Ben Affleck, Aquaman played by Jason Momoa, The Flash played by Ezra Miller, Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot and Cyborg played by Ray Fisher come together to fight evil. The film promises to be filled with action and thrills to wow any action lover. Will the alliance stand a chance against evil?

5. Spiderman : Homecoming

A reboot of the modern classic Spiderman makes its debut in theaters in 2017. As if there is not enough superhero buzz in the year 2017, Marvel’s Spiderman could just be the icing on the cake. Starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jnr, this will be the first Spiderman without Andrew Garfield as the lead. The dynamics are set to change and it is set to be worth watching to see how the new lead, Tom Holland fairs in the role of a fictional superhero.
