Samson Kiprotich Cherarkey, MP, concerning alleged breach of customer data at Naivas Supermarket,&#8221; Allan Chesang posted on his Twitter handle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">In April, the retailer announced that it was a victim of a ransomware attack by an online criminal organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">The company was, however, able to get out of the situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">&#8220;On becoming aware of the attack, Naivas took immediate steps to prevent external access and engaged leading cybersecurity experts crowd strike to ensure system integrity,&#8221; Naivas said earlier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">It also added that it was\u00a0cooperating with relevant law enforcement agencies and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner to investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">Naivas, which remained lip-tight on the magnitude and nature of the attack, confirmed that it does not hold any credit or debit card information on their systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">&#8220;It is recommended in the face of this type of situation to pay particular attention to any phishing attempts by phone, SMS or email as well as to the sufficient security passwords &#8220;added the statement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 9 &#8211; The Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) queried Naivas about the alleged breach of customer data.
