{"id":85407,"date":"2023-05-17T15:35:38","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T12:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/business\/?p=85407"},"modified":"2023-05-17T15:33:31","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T12:33:31","slug":"absa-kmrc-to-support-govts-affordable-housing-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/business\/2023\/05\/absa-kmrc-to-support-govts-affordable-housing-agenda\/","title":{"rendered":"Absa, KMRC, to support Govt\u2019s affordable housing agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"color: #252525\"><strong style=\"color: #252525\">NAIROBI, Kenya, May 17 &#8211; <\/strong><strong>Absa Bank Kenya will work with the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Corporation (KMRC) to make affordable housing a reality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">The coalition seeks to bridge the housing deficit currently experienced in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">Absa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdi Mohamed said that the plan will enable more Kenyans to own cheap houses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">&#8220;On our part I am proud to say we have arguably the best mortgage proposition in the market, and we continue to encourage as many Kenyans as possible to own and live in their homes,&#8221; added Mohamed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">With rural-urban migration on the rise, he expects demand for housing to grow even further in urban areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">&#8220;The conversation around affordable housing remains an important theme within the property sector across the region,&#8221; the CEO stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">The meeting, which saw several corporations across Africa converge in Nairobi, underscored the role of commercial banks in pooling resources for the attainment of affordable housing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">They also agreed that the region will continue to see an upsurge in capital investment from international real estate fund managers, highlighting the demand for affordable housing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">It comes at a time when President William Ruto is planning to build low-cost housing units for Kenyans under his \u2018bottom-up\u2019 campaign agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525\">To achieve this, his administration plans to introduce a three-percent deduction that will be pumped into affordable homes, allowing Kenyans to own houses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, May 17 &#8211; Absa Bank Kenya will work with the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Corporation (KMRC) to make affordable housing a reality.
