Providing employees with a safe work environment is one of its priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, ensuring the health and safety of its employees reduces costs arising from lost-time injuries and medical leaves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe consistently provide safety training to plantation and cannery employees and enforce the use of personal protective equipment required in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DMKL work committees identify potential safety risks and hazards, and devise action plans to mitigate or avoid its occurrence. Safety programs are implemented and process improvements are made to ensure workplace health and safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you know Del Monte Kenya started from humble beginnings and has grown over the last seven decades to become Kenya\u2019s largest exporter of pineapple products and other tropical fruits and vegetables, all thanks to the dedication, commitment, and intellect of its human resources,\u201d said Del monte MD, Stergios Gkaliamoutsas<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a recent ceremony, Gkaliamoutsas commended all the retirees and awardees for their loyalty, commitment, and dedicated service over the years; all of which had contributed to the growth of the company.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that its Human Resource\u00a0\u00a0 is the most important asset and a crucial part of the success story which Del Monte Kenya has become.<\/p>\n<p>Since first establishing its Del Monte Kenya Limited (\u201cDel Monte Kenya\u201d) division, the Del Monte\u00ae brand has become one of Kenya\u2019s most significant contributors to social and economic progress.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, it exports 5,000 containers of pineapple products and other tropical fruits and beverages through the port of Mombasa every year, directly employs over 6,500 Kenyans, provides company housing for more than 2,500 employees and their families, and generates approximately 28,000 other jobs through companies associated with Del Monte Kenya activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Muranga, Kenya, Jan 25 \u2013 Del monte Kenya Limited is a people-driven organization committed to health and wellness, reinforcing safety and well- being especially during the pandemic.
