{"id":114020,"date":"2026-03-31T11:00:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/business\/?p=114020"},"modified":"2026-03-31T11:27:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:27:49","slug":"qwetu-owner-acorn-posts-sh1-5bn-profit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/business\/2026\/03\/qwetu-owner-acorn-posts-sh1-5bn-profit\/","title":{"rendered":"Qwetu owner Acorn posts Sh1.5bn profit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 31 &#8211; Acorn Investment Management Limited has reported a Sh1.52 billion profit for the full year ending December 31, 2025, representing a 9.2 percent increase compared to 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The growth was supported by improved performance across its student accommodation real estate investment trusts (REITs).<\/p>\n<p>Income from the Acorn Student Accommodation Income REIT (ASA I-REIT) rose by 21 percent to Sh670 million, while the Acorn Student Accommodation Development REIT (ASA D-REIT) increased slightly to Sh854 million from Sh839 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite prevailing macroeconomic headwinds, the ASA REITs have maintained stable operational performance, supported by good occupancy and continued focus on balance sheet management,\u201d said Executive Director Mathew Maina.<\/p>\n<p>Acorn\u2019s total student accommodation portfolio now stands at nearly 21,000 beds, while assets under management (AUM) across the two REITs grew by 11 percent to Sh29.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The firm said it will focus on expanding its income-generating portfolio in 2026 through acquisition of new assets, debt optimization, and improved operational efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>It also plans to transfer three developments to the income REIT, including Qwetu and Qejani Karen in the first half of 2026, followed by Qwetu Chiromo later in the year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the development REIT will prioritise reducing overall debt as part of its strategy for the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The growth was supported by improved performance across its student accommodation real estate investment trusts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":14381,"featured_media":114023,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,687],"tags":[934,8025,3747,27252],"coauthors":[6664],"class_list":["post-114020","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-kenya","category-top-stories","tag-featured","tag-posts","tag-profit","tag-qwetu-owner-acorn"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v25.7.1 (Yoast SEO v27.5) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Qwetu owner Acorn posts Sh1.5bn profit - Capital Business<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"The growth was supported by improved performance across its student accommodation real estate investment trusts.
