YAOUNDE, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — Cameroonian President Paul Biya has unveiled a series of measures aimed at reforming the nation’s employment system, with a goal of improving job access for young people.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The government will establish a regulatory framework to support the recruitment of first-time jobseekers, Biya said in a televised message on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

He said that the framework will help consolidate, analyze and disseminate information on available job opportunities.<\/p>\n

To preserve the environment and combat climate change, the government has created the Green Jobs Promotion Program, which will “ultimately help to create over 10,000 jobs through income-generating activities in areas such as sanitation, waste recycling and organic farming,” said the president.<\/p>\n

The government is also working to employ more health workers and ensure that training opportunities mirror actual labor market needs, he added.<\/p>\n

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics in Cameroon, the unemployment rate in the country in 2024 was 3.6 percent.<\/p>\n
