Java House opens 84th branch at Eastleigh

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 6 – Coffee chain Java House has opened a new branch in Eastleigh, Nairobi, targeting the populous market.

The 84th outlet is located at the newly opened Business Bay Square Mall, which has attracted a number of businesses.

It will offer a Halal-compliant menu, coffee, and other retail items through sit-down or online deliveries from partners such as Carrefour, Glovo, Jumia Foods, Bolt Foods, Uber Eats, and Little Cab.

Java House CEO Priscilla Gathungu said the growth is part of the brand’s ambition to reach more customers.

“Being the market leader in the casual dining space in this region, we want to continue to innovate on our experience based on what our guests are telling us. Our guests’ needs are constantly evolving, and we want to adapt to these changes,” said Gathungu.

“Eastleigh is a bustling hub of activity. We have 100,000 people coming into Eastleigh daily with 30,000 of those coming for work related activity and that number gets to over 250,000 over the holiday periods,” added Gathungu.

Its investments, the restaurant chain said, will birth new opportunities for suppliers and partners.

The new branch creates additional opportunities for the employment of baristas, chefs, and hospitality staff, while providing a boost to delivery service providers within the Eastleigh area.

“Hosting the region’s leading casual dining establishment provides a healthy addition to the mix of businesses that the mall is home to,” Wachera Maina, Tenant Coordinator, Business Bay Square Mall, said.

“We are confident that the restaurant will serve as an attraction to many visitors to the area, and drive the community growing within our mall.”

Since opening its doors in 1999 in Nairobi, Java has expanded in the East African region with three sister brands such as Kukito, Planet Yoghurt, and 360 Degrees Pizza.

“We are excited to have the Java brand serve the community. Eastleigh attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each day, all of whom now have the opportunity to interact with Java’s products,” Mohamed Ahmed Asmali, Eastleigh Business Community representative, stated.

“There are many opportunities for mutual benefit between the community and the brand as suppliers, partners, customers, through CSR initiatives, and creating new job opportunities for the people within the community,” Asmali add.
