NCBA onboards 50 graduates in 2026 internship programme

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 12 – NCBA Group has launched the 2026 cohort of its Go Getter Internship Program, onboarding 50 graduates drawn from 16 universities across Kenya.

The eleven-month programme is designed to give graduates hands-on experience through rotations across key business units, including Retail Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, Human Resources, Finance and Regional Business operations.

Participants will also receive mentorship and coaching while working on real business challenges within the organization.

The initiative comes amid growing concerns over youth unemployment and underemployment in Kenya, with many graduates struggling to transition into formal employment.

According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), structured internship programmes are increasingly becoming important in equipping young people with workplace skills and professional exposure.

Since its launch in 2023, the Go Getter Internship Program has onboarded 200 graduates, with half transitioning into permanent or contract roles within the Group.

Monicah Kihia said the programme reflects the lender’s commitment to investing in young talent.

“Through the Go Getter Program, we are empowering ambition by trusting young talent early, providing real-world exposure beyond the classroom, and opening clear pathways into meaningful careers,” she said.

NCBA recently received the Top Employer 2026 certification from the Top Employers Institute in recognition of its workplace and people development practices.

The internship programme is anchored on NCBA’s Ubuntu 2026-2030 Strategy, which focuses on talent development, inclusive growth and long-term community impact.

It also forms part of the Group’s “Change The Story” sustainability agenda aimed at promoting mentorship, skills development and employment opportunities for youth.
