China begins construction of Sh5bn Nairobi commerce centre

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 1 – President William Ruto has laid the foundation stone for the China-Kenya International Commerce Centre, a mixed-use development project at the Jamhuri Showground in Nairobi.

The Sh5 billion investment spans more than 68,000 square metres and will house a five-star hotel and other modern facilities and will directly create 3,000 jobs for Kenyans.

“This moment marks the beginning of the commercial transformation of our Agricultural Society of Kenya facilities, turning underutilised government assets into engines of growth,” he said on Wednesday.

The project is promoted by China Plaza Group Co. Ltd, aligning with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
