KRA engages with taxpayers at Nakuru Citizen Assembly

NAKURU, Kenya, September 18 – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has held a Citizen Assembly in Nakuru County, bringing together entrepreneurs, business owners, and community representatives for a public conversation on tax administration and service delivery.

The forum is part of KRA’s nationwide stakeholder engagement programme designed to promote open dialogue, gather constructive feedback, and inform service improvements.

KRA Board Chairman Ndiritu Muriithi said the Authority is committed to taxpayer-centered service delivery to strengthen trust and collaboration.

“We recognise that sustainable revenue mobilisation can only be achieved through collaboration with taxpayers. By listening and responding to your feedback, we aim to improve accessibility, simplify services, and build trust between KRA and the people we serve,” he said.

He added that KRA is accelerating digital solutions, expanding local service touchpoints, and introducing new customer-centred processes to make tax payment easier for businesses and individuals nationwide.

KRA’s Acting Commissioner for Micro and Small Taxpayers, George Obel, highlighted efforts to support small enterprises, the informal sector, and the emerging economy.

“We have enhanced our service offering from the iTax portal to web, and now to USSD. Taxpayers can now easily access services such as PIN retrieval and PIN checker simply by dialling *222# and selecting option 5 for KRA services,” he said.

He added that KRA is working to expand service touchpoints to ensure taxpayers across the country, including those in rural areas, can access support. The USSD solution, available free of charge, caters to both smartphone users and those with basic devices.

Participants at the forum welcomed the engagement, noting that such interactions are key to building trust between the Authority and taxpayers.

Also present were Kenya National Highways Authority Board Chairperson Winfrida Wanjiku Ngumi, Kenya Dairy Board Chairperson Genesio Mugo, Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) Chairperson Cornelly Serem, KRA Board Director Richard Ndungu, AFA CEO Bruno Linyiru, KRA Commissioner for Shared Services Nancy Ng’etich, and Acting Commissioner for Business Strategy, Technology & Enterprise Modernisation Alex Mwangi.
