NAIROBI, Kenya, April 5 – Strathmore has partnered with Strathmore University to roll out a tech training program that targets women.
The Women in Tech Program is a 12-week incubation program for 15 female entrepreneurs.
The program aims to foster sustainable business practices among women-led startups leveraging technology.
StanChart Head of Transaction Banking in Kenya and East Africa, Makabelo Malumane, stressed the need to foster sustainable business practices.
“When women succeed, so do our economies. We cannot build sustainable economies without women. At Standard Chartered, we recognize we cannot empower them on our own, and partnerships with like-minded and value-based institutions such as Ibiz Africa are why, today, we are continuing to build on our success and reaching more women with our 7th cohort,” Malumane said.
“What stands out most is the impact and ripple effect the program has on society. I am delighted to see the businesses that have grown and employed others and expanded the ecosystem of tech and entrepreneurship.”
Since 2017, the program has trained over 64 women-led businesses, with 32 benefiting from seed funding totaling over Sh41 million.
