NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 14 – Retail chain Carrefour has tapped the second self-checkout service at the Village Market.
Since the unveiling of the inaugural one at the Westgate Shopping Mall last year, the retailer has reported a 59 percent customer satisfaction score, underscoring the importance of investing in technology.
“We have seen our customers enjoy reduced waiting time at the checkout counters, resulting in a more efficient shopping experience,” Majid Al Futtaim Retail East Africa Regional Director Christophe Orcet said.
‘Today, as we expand the service to our second store, we look forward to providing our customers with enhanced convenience.”
Currently, Carrefour operates 22 stores in the country, with Nairobi hosting 17 stores: two in Kisumu and three in Mombasa.
“The ever-evolving retail industry requires consistent innovation and keeping up with customers’ demands,” Orcet added.
“We plan to introduce self-checkout systems in more stores in the future as we strive to create seamless shopping experiences for all our customers.”
