NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 6- Qatar Airways is showcasing a virtual reality and the world’s first metahuman cabin crew, dubbed Q-verse Meta Experience for the first time in Africa at the Magical Kenya Expo.
Speaking during an interview with Capital Business, Vice President of the Airline, Hendrik Du Preez says the airline has made a tremendous leap in modern technology as their website users can now virtually tour and navigate the Premium Check-in area at Hamad International Airport.
“We are the first airline to launch it globally, it is a great leap into the future for people to experience our product even before being on board, with Meta being the future, it is important to be in that space and people have an expectation to know what to expect,” Preez said.
The airline noted that by using their own Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs), users can virtually tour the cabin interior of the airline’s aircraft, including the award-winning Business Class – Qsuite, and the Economy Class cabin.
Preez further added that the aviation industry was greatly affected by Covid-19 over the past 2 years but the airline created an opportunity by never stopping operations across the world and has opened 8 destinations in Africa during Covid and reopened four destinations that were not in operation since 2017.
A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was announced as the ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2021 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax.
