Kenya space expo and conference 2022 held in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 17 – The Kenya Space Expo and Conference 2022 kicked off on Wednesday in Nairobi bringing together government, academia, and space agency representatives, international organizations, space enthusiasts, and the general public.

The three-day event which was officially opened by Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Defence Peter Ochieng’ Odoyo sought to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussions on space opportunities and the use of space applications for socio-economic development.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Kenya Space Agency Acting Director-General Col. Hillary Kipkosgey said that the Agency’s main role is facilitatory and that it is open to ideas that will make the space sector grow.

“In this particular conference, we are seeking to create national awareness through showcasing some of the benefits of space science, technologies, and applications in our national socio-economic development, and to nurture and promote the development of our national space ecosystem that is robust, innovative, competitive and responsive to the needs of our country”, said the DG.

More than  30 firms (both local and foreign) will be given a chance to showcase space technologies, applications, and innovations targeted at providing solutions to socio-economic challenges and contributing to national development.

The event also features over 70 panel and plenary sessions in the field of Earth observation, space systems engineering, astronomy and space science.
