Dr. Chris Kirubi is Dead. Here is a Powerful Message of Hope He Shared Amid His Battle with Cancer

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 14 – Dr. Chris Kirubi a prominent businessman, investor and entrepreneur in Kenya and the East Africa region, has died following a long battle with cancer.

Popularly known as Dr. DJ CK, Kirubi is famous for his successful business ventures as well as his powerful social media presence characterized by free mentorship towards the youth.

He was 80 years old.

In honour of our chairman, below is his description of his journey with cancer and a message of hope he shared in 2019:

The subject of cancer is one that is very close and dear to my heart. I write from a reflective point for I know that cancer diagnosis can be very devastating to the person who is receiving the news and the people close to them.  I have been on the receiving end myself.

As an entrepreneur, I understand that life can get extremely busy and it is easy to get side tracked and adopt unhealthy habits. I cannot emphasise enough, the importance of making your health a priority. Take the initiative, go for screening and change your lifestyle. It’s only when you are healthy that you can build healthy enterprises.

I hope that when you see me and think of me, you remember that cancer is treatable and curable. Go to your doctor and prompt them to profile your blood for cancer cells. We will only defeat cancer if we do something about it and I truly believe we can start with regular cancer screening tests which can catch some cancers early, when they are small, have not spread and are easier to treat.

My appeal to you today and any other day is simple! Go for cancer screening! Doctors have been emphasising on the importance of early detection, for cancer is only treatable and curable if it is caught in its early stages. Yearly screening is a sure bet to saying your life.

For those who are battling cancer, I would like to urge you to continue fighting, maintain a positive attitude and take things a day at a time. We shall continue to draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival. Do not give up. There is hope.
