Number of Visitors Arriving through JKIA, MIA Rise to 20,164 in September

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 23 – The total number of visitors arriving through Jomo Kenyatta (JKIA) and Moi International Airports (MIA) increased from 13,919 persons in August 2020 to 20,164 persons in September 2020. 

This is according to data by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics which reveals that the number of passengers who landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) increased from 32,503 persons in August 2020 to 34,525 persons in September 2020.
“Passengers who embarked increased from 30,569 persons to 34,648 persons over the same period,” KNBS said in a statement.
Total monthly throughput at the port of Mombasa rose from 2,689.84 thousand metric tonnes in August 2020 to 2,953.39 thousand metric tonnes in September 2020.
Kenya resumed international flights on August 1st after several months of closure due to lockdown measures implemented to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The country resumed to the skies under tight COVID-19 regulations.
Passengers on international flights whose body temperature is not above 37.5 degrees Celcius (99.5F) do not have a persistent cough, difficulty in breathing, or other flu-like symptoms, have negative PCR based COVID-19 test carried out within 96 hours before travel, and are from countries considered low to medium risk COVID-19 transmission areas shall be exempt from quarantine.
