Hemingways Nairobi wins prestigious international award

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 6 – Luxury boutique hotel Hemingways Nairobi has been awarded the ‘Mystery Inspectors’ Award in the Small Luxury Hotels Awards 2020. The property emerged top from over 550 member hotels.

The award was one among 17 categories featured with others including, Hotel of the Year, Travel Agents’ Hotel of the year, Most Liked Hotel, Digital Excellence Award, and Best Gourmet Experience among others. Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda in Italy, Hotel Relais Christine in France, Triumph Hotels in the USA, and The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa in Indonesia ranking top in the respective categories above.

Speaking after receiving the news, Group Operations Director, Ross Evans said it was heartwarming for Hemingways Collection to receive the award at a time the hotel industry locally and internationally is still battling against the damaging effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Considering the mystery inspectors give their rating based on their personal experience at each and every member hotel, this award further recognizes Hemingways Collection’s efforts in providing a unique luxury Kenyan experience to our guests. I applaud our fantastic team at Hemingways Nairobi for this fantastic achievement” noted Evans.

The Mystery Inspector’s Award is determined by a team of anonymous inspectors who travel to all member hotels globally, to live the SLH experience. With each trip, they go through an extensive check-list and report back on the quality of each hotel. Additionally, the awards are voted on by a panel of experts from the worlds of luxury, travel, wellbeing, and cuisine.

“We see the award as an incredible boost for the luxury hospitality sector in Kenya, as it shows that a homegrown luxury Kenyan brand, staffed by dedicated Kenyan hospitality professionals, can compete with the best of the best internationally,” said Evans.

Small Luxury Hotels of the World comprises of 550 hotels in more than 90 countries forming a community of independently-minded travelers and spirited hotels in the world, with the aim of matching the former, with the most individual, intimate, and intense hotel experiences.
