Local Tourists urged to explore Magical Kenya Signature Experiences

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 16 – Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala, has asked Kenyans to embrace diverse tourism experiences, especially those that are tailor-made to suit different preferences.

Speaking during a visit to The Forest Adventure at Kereita, Kiambu County, Balala called on the local tourists to explore the Magical Kenya Signature Experiences (MKSE) that are a cut above the traditional tourism offerings as they offer an authentic and highly-personalized experience. These were identified through an evaluation process in the first phase of identifying experiences that form part of the must – visit experiences in Kenya.

“There’s no better time to explore something different than now. I challenge Kenyans to seek out new tourism offerings such as what we have here at Kereita, they deliver a rich and unique experience. It’s high time we looked beyond what we are conventionally used to and discover these hidden gems that are spread out across the country,” said CS Balala

CS Balala took on the zip-lining and archery experience which is part of the experiences offered at Kereita. Other offers include adventure activities such, mountain biking, nature walks, Footgolf, Forest Rovers, among others.

He urged industry players to diversify attractive and affordable packages in a bid to woo more local tourists even as the government looks to revive a sector that has borne the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today’s discerning traveller, both domestic and international, is seeking out travel destinations that deliver unique and authentic experiences which tap into their passion points. We have a lot in this country that we can share, the industry has invested heavily but sometimes we need to do the small things that make a difference” added CS Balala

On her part, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) CEO, Dr. Betty Radier, who had accompanied the CS, said that the board looks forward to expanding the signature experiences in a bid to enable the sector remain relevant and much more competitive.

“Since we officially launched the MKSE initiative last year, our goal has been to promote Kenya’s diverse tourism offerings to the world. It is through such exceptional and authentic experiences that we hope to make Magical Kenya the to-go destination for the discerning traveller,” said Dr Radier. The afternoon of adventure was also graced by Local area Member of Parliament, Jonah Mburu.

The Magical Kenya Signature Experiences initiative is aimed at promoting a collection of authentic and exceptional Kenya travel experiences that are best aligned to the Magical Kenya’s brand promise.
