NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 11 – UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation and Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation have announced a joint initiative to provide free COVID-19 testing for vulnerable children and PPEs to health workers in Nairobi.
This program will be implemented through Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital Outreach program in urban slum areas where healthcare support for children is much needed.

Foundations’ commitment in supporting the fight against the pandemic while emphasizing the need for continued corporate support.
“We are glad to be announcing yet another initiative as UAP Old Mutual Group towards combating this pandemic. We do realize that there are vulnerable and underprivileged communities in Nairobi, and we are certain that this will go a long way into supporting
them. This initiative underscores our commitment to communities especially around these daunting times of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are glad to be partnering with Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation to drive the initiative.”
On his part, Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital CEO Dr. Robert Nyarango outlined the need for continued support to frontline workers and the vulnerable communities.
“Health care workers around the country are the heroes in this fight against Covid-19. While there has been a marked increase in the number of cases in the country, we believe that with such initiatives as what we are launching with UAP Old Mutual Group here today, the infection will be brought under control. As a Foundation, we are committed to the healthcare provision to children and we are proud to be going the extra mile to secure their needs especially in these underprivileged settlements.”
Through the partnership, UAP Old Mutual Group and Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation will see testing kits, disposable overall suits, disposable aprons, protective goggles, gloves and other equipment availed to healthcare workers.
