NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 16-Former Kenya Power acting Managing Director Jared Othieno has been appointed as the new Managing Director at the Geothermal Development Corporation Managing Director, effective April 19.
Othieno beat other 7 candidates that were shortlisted for the top job.
He replaces John Nchoe who was sacked in December 2019 on implication of fraud after he approved a Sh20 million mortgage scheme for an employee who did not qualify.
“On behalf of the board and management of GDC, I wish to congratulate Engineer Othieno on his appointment and wish him success in the new role,” said the board chairman John Njiraini in a statement on Wednesday.
He previously worked at Kenya power in various positions, among them acting managing director.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Nairobi.
