NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 14 – Former Principal Secretary Trade and Industrialization Betty Maina is the new Cabinet Secretary for the department.
Maina has been nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to take over the docket replacing Peter Munya who has now been moved to the Ministry of Agriculture. Munya replaces former Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.
While announcing the reshuffling of the Cabinet a the State of the nation in Mombasa, Uhuru also selected John Weru to be the new Principal Secretary for Trade and Industrialization, a position Maina was holding until the announcement of her new role.
The new CS previously worked as the PS of Industrialization where she was appointed in 2018.
In her new role, Maina will be expected to lead the department in promoting industrialization and enterprise development.
Her other will involve the promotion of private sector development policies and strategies.
