Ministry of Culture, Heritage endorses Koroga Festival set for this weekend at Two Rivers Mall

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 18-Koroga Festival has officially been endorsed by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, following its role in tapping and nurturing talent in Kenya as well as developing Kenya’s art and culture.

Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed said the festival is very important as it promotes culture and helps grow talents as well as reflect Kenya’s brilliant and diverse creativity.

“The State Department of Culture and Heritage is aware of the role Koroga plays, we appreciate the efforts of the organizers towards this endeavor and we wish to endorse this festival as one of the best festivals in the country with a clear mandate of development and youth talent,” she said.

Aptly named after the Swahili word Koroga meaning “mix”, the festival is a great reflection of Kenya’s brilliant and diverse local talent, whilst also attracting leading artists from all over the world.

Koroga Commercial Director Farida Idris said this endorsement will go a long way in promoting the festival which has been providing platform for the celebration of Africa’s mix of music, food, art while also giving an opportunity to upcoming artists to show case their talents.

“We are very proud in this partnership with Ministry and we are looking forward to having an exciting event that seeks to promote and enhance our culture as well as creativity,” she said.

Also on board is the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China as part of building relationships and appreciating the win- win cooperation between Kenya and China.

The festival will be marking its 27th edition this weekend at Two Rivers Mall grounds, which will feature both local and international artists, most notably the Ivorian reggae legendary Alpha Blondy who will be entertaining fans during the second day.

Lined up for the second day are local artists Wyre and Redsan.

Upcoming artists Zzero Sufuri of the Zimenishika fame alongside Wamlambez hit-maker Sailors and Decimators will be performing on day one.

The 26th edition of Koroga festival hosted at Tatu City treated the 4,000 attendees to a beautiful two-days event filled with good food, fashion and music.

Guests were treated to great music from Them Mushrooms, Jua Cali, Samidoh and the headliner, Femi Kuti.
