Safaricom declares Sh74.9bn dividend payout for year ending March 31

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 30 – Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) shareholders on Friday approved a record Sh74.92 billion dividend payouts for the financial year ending March 31, 2019.

In one of the largest dividend payouts, shareholders attending the company’s Annual General Meeting at Bomas of Kenya approved a special dividend of Sh0.62 per share, amounting to Sh24.8 billion and a final ordinary dividend of Sh1.25 per share that totals to Sh50.08 billion.

This brings the total divided to be paid out to Sh1.87 a share.
