NAIROBI, Kenya May 8 – Investment bank Kestrel Capital (East Africa) Ltd has named Francis Maina Mwangi as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 29 April 2019.

His appointment is expected to drive the firm’s continuous growth and competitive position in the investment banking sector in East Africa.

Kestrel Capital Chairman and Founder Charles Field-Marsham expressed confidence in Francis’ ability to run the business, focused on the guiding principles of integrity, professionalism and excellent service delivery, while steering the institution to greater heights.

Francis joined Kestrel Capital in 2018 as an Executive Director. Commenting on his appointment Mr. Mwangi said; “I am excited about using my experience in research, corporate finance and sales, and working closely with a strong team to drive the growth of Kestrel Capital and capital markets across East Africa”.

Over the past 12 years, Francis has been actively involved in advising local and international investment banks on venture opportunities across East Africa. He has also actively participated in originating and structuring both public and private, equity and debt transactions.

Prior to joining Kestrel Capital, between 2011 and 2018, Francis worked for Standard Investment Bank as Head of Research where he headed the setting up of the research department. Prior to that, he was at African Alliance Investment Bank as Senior Investment Analyst.

Francis holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major) Honours Degree from the University of Nairobi (UoN) and he is a Fellow of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA, England & Wales). Francis is also a CFA charter holder.
