Return to work without fear – President Kenyatta

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday urged the nation to return to work following the terror attack at 14 Riverside emphasizing that no one will derail or frustrate the progress of Kenya.

In a televised speech, President Kenyatta has commended the resilience of security forces and volunteers who responded to the terrorist attack.

“We are in the process of building a new Kenya that is prosperous, secure, and inclusive, and in which every Kenyan has an opportunity to thrive. We will allow no one to derail or frustrate our progress. No one in Kenya today, or at any time, should doubt our resolve to maintain security in our country, our determination is unswerving,” said Kenyatta.

He urged the country to get back to work “without fear and continue with our work of building our nation.”

The President said 14 people have been confirmed dead and several others are receiving treatment in different hospitals in Nairobi.

Over 700 have been rescued from the office block and the DusitD2 hotel.

Kenyatta also applauded Kenyans for their handling of the information and images being shared through various online platforms.

“I also commend the civilians who looked after one another. For every act of evil that led to injury yesterday, there were a dozen acts of compassion, overflowing patriotism and individual courage,” said the Head of State.
