Heightened security in malls following Riverside attack

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – Security has been heightened at malls countrywide after Riverside Complex terror attack.

The Retail Trade Association of Kenya says it engaged the Government through the Trade Ministry and other agencies with the aim of ensuring enhanced security in Retail outlets.

The Association Chairman Willy Kimani says malls management have reviewed security operations in conjunction with the Police and other partners to ensure secure environments for the safety of the retailers and the public.

Kimani has urged the public to fully cooperate with the Police and security personnel at the malls, as they continue with the normal trading activities.

“The Retail Trade Association of Kenya condemns the heinous attack at 14 Riverside and empathizes with all those who have been affected. We stand in solidarity with all Kenyans in condemning terrorism,” Kimani said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Village Market has been temporally closed following the terror attack.

The shopping and recreation mall terms the move as a security precaution and a standard protocol.
