Wednesday Morning Business brief – Tax education in schools, End Poverty Day

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 17 – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) will unveil a needs assessment report on mainstreaming tax education in the competency-based curriculum in Kenya.

The handover of the tax curriculum will also mark the closing ceremony of the Fourth Annual Tax Summit that started on Monday 15th October with the launch of the KRA Research Conference.


The Africa Region of the World Bank will mark End Poverty Day with a focus on Africa’s Youth and the Future of Work.

There will be in-country dialogues with young Africans in various countries and a panel discussion via videoconference with the World Bank’s Headquarters (Washington DC).

The occasion will also be used to launch a Region-wide Blog4Dev2019 competition.


US officials announced Tuesday negotiations for separate trade agreements with Britain, the European Union and Japan as part of efforts by President Donald Trump’s administration to rebalance global commerce.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said the administration notified Congress of its intent to negotiate the three separate trade agreements.
