NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28 – A consortium of more than 90 Multinational Companies from China operating in Kenya have reiterated their plans to provide quality employment opportunities for Kenyan youth as part of their business development strategies.

The companies, under the Kenya China Economic Trade Association (KCETA) and with the support from Chinese Embassy in Kenya, have committed to continue rolling out sustainable human resource development programmes geared at promoting career growth for local youth.

As part of the commitment, the companies will be hosting a one-day career fair at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Monday 29th October, to raise awareness on career and job opportunities for local youth in the respective firms.

At the Career Fair, the firms operating in various economic sectors including Building and Construction, ICT, Automotive, Mining, Media and related economic sectors, will showcase their corporate profiles and share the numerous available opportunities, matched with the nature of skill set required.

“As a crucial player in the country, we believe that it is our mission to build good businesses in Kenya to boost the economy favorably. One way we are doing this is through availing opportunities, especially to the youth who have just cleared their university or college studies, and those who have some experience in the various industries, to provide them with career growth opportunities, enabling them apply the skills learnt in school,” said Emily Li Chen, Secretary of KCETA.

“It is our strong belief that in order to collaborate effectively, we need to empower the youth of Kenya. By doing so, we are empowering the nation and making contributions to the realization of the Big Four Development Agenda. The youth are the drivers of the Kenyan economy and it is therefore important that they attend the Career Fair and take advantage of such opportunities when presented to them,” added Mr. Li Xuhang, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy.

Among the expected delegates to attend the Fair are; Mr. Li Xuhang, Charge d’Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Mr. Guo Ce, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Dr. Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Amb.
