NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 28 – Former Kenya Electricity Generation Company (KenGen) Chief Executive Officer Eddie Njoroge has been elected unopposed in Geneva as the President of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
Njoroge will be President-elect during 2019 as he works hand in hand with President John Walter before his term becomes effective in 2020 to 2021.
Njoroge secured backing from 161-member countries.
Kenya nominated Njoroge for the position of the ISO presidency and the Kenya Bureau of Standards received communication from the global body indicating that former Nairobi Securities Exchange boss was the only candidate for the position.
Njoroge says he is committed to boost ISO’s governance standards if elected into office besides working with SMEs to boost their conformity to global standards.
The International Organisation for Standardisation determines access to global markets as it defines the characteristics that products and services have to meet for export standards.
