Kenya, Mauritius to host business and trade expo in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 31 – Nairobi is set to host the Mauritius – Kenya intra-African Trade and Investment forum on August 1 at the Hilton

The forum, which has been organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB) Mauritius, Kenya Investment Authority, United Business Association and East Africa Trade Hub, will be a unique opportunity to meet with key players from high potential sectors, to explore opportunities for import, export, joint venture collaboration, strategic alliances, franchising and business/project financing.

The Business delegation from Mauritius comprises of companies from various economic sectors, includingFinancial Services industry, professional legal services, Architectural and project Management services, Leading manufacturers, Banking Services, the hospitality industry and the ICT/BPO industry.

Current intra country trade between Mauritius and Kenya is under 2pc we want to raise this to at least the intra African level which is at 13pc.

Private Equity flow between Mauritius and Kenya stood close to $3 Billion in 2016 with almost $1.8 billion from Mauritius to Kenya.

The forum is expected to bolster trade between the two nations and also help Kenya set Nairobi as an Interanation Financial Centre creating a corridor channeling funds to projects across the region.
