Airtel rolls out 4G service with a double data offer

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 2 – Airtel Kenya, has launched its 4G service in the country with a double data offer to all customers who have a 4G enabled handset and 4G SIM card subscribed to the monthly bundle.

The firm is also offering customers who upgrade their SIM to 4G a 2GB bonus free.

The new 4G experience offers the customers the joy of access to more media on their devices,  greater connectivity speeds with the 4G network with its fast browsing speeds and improved network responsiveness.

The Airtel 4G will initially be available in Nairobi and Mombasa followed by extended investment and roll out to other towns and cities as part of the on-going plan quality of service improvement plan.

Customers can do self-upgrade of their SIM to 4G by dialing *100# and selecting the upgrade menu. Customers can get a 4G SIM free of charge from any Airtel shop.

“Airtel is committed to continuously innovate and improve the quality of its products and services for a delightful customer experience. We believe we have launched our 4G service at the most opportune time especially now that many customers have access to more 4G enabled handsets and devices,” said Prasanta Das Sarma Managing Director Airtel Kenya.

Sarma says Airtel will continue to introduce new and exciting products and services for its voice and data customer’s mobile commerce.

Kenya’s number of mobile data/Internet subscriptions hit 33.0 million as at December 31, 2017.

Safaricom PLC is the market leader in the mobile data/Internet subscriptions with a market share of 72.8 per cent with Airtel Networks Limited at 18.5 per cent.
