NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 19 – National Bank of Kenya has confirmed that fraudsters have gotten away with Sh29 million in what is suspected to be a hacking incident that happened on Wednesday.
“The amount of attempted fraud is about Sh29 million and we are confident we will recover most of that money,” said NBK in a statement, two days after the incident.
The bank has assured customers that accounts have not been affected contrary to, “social media speculation on the potential loss is incorrect.”
National Bank says its monitoring personnel intercepted the attempted fraud and that security officers are in pursuit of the fraudsters.
