Fraudsters steal Sh29Mn from National Bank of Kenya

, NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 19 – National Bank of Kenya has confirmed that fraudsters have gotten away with Sh29 million in what is suspected to be a hacking incident that happened on Wednesday.

“The amount of attempted fraud is about Sh29 million and we are confident we will recover most of that money,” said NBK in a statement, two days after the incident.

The bank has assured customers that accounts have not been affected contrary to, “social media speculation on the potential loss is incorrect.”
