Expansion of Ngong Rd phase two to commence in March

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 30 – Japanese construction company, WKK, has been awarded the contract for the dualing of Ngong Road Phase two at a cost of Sh2.2 billion with financing from the Government of Japan.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority Acting Director General Silas Kinoti says the expansion of the 2.42-kilometer road from Prestige Plaza to Dagoretti corner will start early March.

“The scope of works include construction of dual carriageway, improve junction, bus bays, non-motorized transport, and the landscaping for the preservation of the environment and beautification,” said Kinoti in a statement.

Having just completed the dualing of Ngong Road phase one from Kenya National Library to Prestige Plaza, the Japanese contractor will also install an intelligent transport system for phase 1 and 2.

Work has already begun on expanding the Sh1.98 billion Ngong road section between Karen and Dagoretti corner and is expected to be complete in 18 months.
