NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 11 – Kenya Power has started changing account numbers for all customers following the launch of a new integrated customer management system.

The power distribution company says customers can get to know their new account numbers by sending a text to 95551with the word STATUS plus the existing account number.

Customers in Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni and Kajiado counties have already been assigned new account numbers with the switch over to the rest of the country expected to be complete by the end of the year.

“The system is state of the art, versatile with robust web-based applications aimed at enhancing customer service and experience, by improving service delivery,” said Kenya Power in a statement.

The new customer management system provides consumers with a web portal where they can query and get instant bills, check consumption trends and also provides additional payment options such as credit and debit cards.
