Safaricom customers to stream Kwese TV content on mobile devices

Nairobi, 12 April 2017 – Safaricom has signed a distribution agreement with Econet Media’s Kwesé TV to deliver premium video content to Kenyan consumers.

Safaricom customers will access Kwesé’s TV content including exclusives like NBA basketball, Revolt TV and VICELAND, as well as live coverage of English Premier League and Brazilian football matches, as well as lifestyle and music shows.

Subscribers will stream Kwese’s programming on their connected devices through a yet to be announced video data bundle and via M-Pesa.

Safaricom’s Director of Consumer Business, Sylvia Mulinge, says the partnership aims to enhance customer experience and deliver solutions that meet their unique needs.

“Video content is the future of mobile and our partnership with Kwese will enable us to deliver some of the best international and local video content. This is a powerful partnership, which will greatly benefit our customers and have a positive impact on the local industry,” said Mulinge.

Econet Media CEO Joseph Hundah said the company is increasing integration in related industries like telecoms and media.

“Through our partnership, we will be able to leverage our collective strengths to give customers a world-class video service through the fastest network in Kenya. We are excited by the potential that mobile TV offers and look forward to working with Safaricom to deliver our content into the hands of even more Kenyans” Hundah said.
