, NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 15 – Sarova hotel has signed a management agreement with Woodlands hotel Nakuru to manage the soon to be opened Sarova Woodlands Nakuru.

The contract will see Sarova manage the Sh1.3 billion Nakuru hotel whose main target is business and leisure travelers.

Sarova Managing Director Jaipeed Vohra says the decision to manage the Nakuru hotel is based on the growing appetite for quality in the hospitality industry in the county.

“Nakuru is the country’s fastest growing city and the region’s second. This makes it a prime location for our kind of establishment,” Vohra said.

Vohra additionally said that the hotel is expected to boost tourism in the area as visitors will no longer need to go to Naivasha or Eldoret to get quality services.

Sarova Woodlands will become the third hotel being managed by the brand, and the ninth in total under the Sarova brand name.

The hotel, whose official opening is in May 2017, has 146 rooms, a spa and conference facilities among others.

Woodlands Director Peter Ngori says the decision to contract Sarova as the managers is based on its brand name that is already a household in the industry.

Ngori said the establishment came at the right time considering the ongoing revival of the tourism industry, sentiments supported by Vohra.

“I’d like to thank the President and the tourism ministry. They’ve done a great job of reviving the industry, you cannot compare the industry to where it was in 2015, things are now looking up,” Vohra said.

If it wasn’t for the upcoming general election, Vohra predicted that the industry could have performed much better, adding that it is performing quite well considering it is a political year, although he did not give details.
