Property Insights: The Do’s of Holiday Decorating

The holidays are a perfect time to showcase the warmth and features of your home to those you’ll be having over. Nothing says Merry Christmas more than decorations that have been hung up all over your house. All you need is a splash of color to freshen up the look of your house.

Appropriately Sized Decorations

An appropriate question to ask yourself is “Does this ornament fully showcase the charm of the room?” It doesn’t have to be too large so that it distracts from the rest of the features and not too small so it vanishes into the rest of the decorations. If a Christmas tree is your style, then by all means get one and make it as festive as you can.
Co – ordinate with the colors of the room
Maintaining a coordinated color scheme matters even if all you want to do is paint the halls in red and green. Even if it is just a few ornamental pieces, less is more.

Decorate to showcase the best architectural features

Holiday decorating is the perfect opportunity to showcase the best and most attractive features of your home. A good example would be to put a nice garland around a curved staircase or you could also hang festive socks over the fireplace.

Exterior Decorations add to curb appeal

Holiday decorations are a fabulous way to spruce up your front door and make it look that much more attractive. Wreaths on your door, lights by your window or a mini Christmas tree are some tasteful ways to spruce up the exterior of your home.

However you chose to decorate your home for the holidays, make sure it best fits your style and shows off the best features of your house.

Happy decorating and Happy Holidays!
