Newspaper ad recruits members to join Kenyan corrupt cartels

newspaper-ad

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 25 – A classified ad posted in one of the national dailies invited members of the public and budding tenderpreneurs to join corrupt cartels.

The ad promised members would clinch lucrative government tenders to supply goods and services ‘without sweat’.

But after an uproar on social media, Nation Media Group issued a statement stating the classified was ‘erroneously published in the Daily Nation.’

“We highly regret and sincerely apologize for this error. Nation Media Group does not support or condone such advertisement which clearly goes against our mission to positively impact society’s values and our editorial policy,” read the statement.

The Group said it had taken immediate action to blacklist the advertising partner and that it was reviewing internal procedures to prevent such cases.
