NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 12 – Centum Investments Limited has appointed four high profile new non-executive directors to the company.

Among them are Former President of African Development Bank Donald Kaberuka who has among other positions been Minister for Finance in Rwanda.

The firm has also appointed William Byaruhanga, the Attorney General of the Republic of Uganda, a position he assumed in June 2016.

Also appointed as a non-executive director of the firm is AIG Kenya Insurance Limited Managing Director Catherine Igathe as well as former CMC Holdings group Finance Director Mary Gathiaka Ngige.

Ngige has also been a senior manager at Deloitte and Touche and also serves as a non-executive director in the boards of Kenindia Assurance Company and Platcorp Holdings Limited.

“The appointment of the new directors was effected in compliance with the Capital Markets Authority Code of corporate governance practices for issuers of Securities to the public, 2015,” said Centum Chief Executive James Mworia.

The firm’s pre-tax profit rose 23 percent to Sh10.9 billion in the year to the end of March 2016, helped by rising investment income.

The company’s investment income more than doubled to Sh24.17 billion from Sh11.83 billion in the same period in 2015.

Centum’s earnings per share rose to Sh11.75 from Sh10.45 and it paid a dividend per share of Sh1.00 for the same period.
